- I can connect with this article in a few different ways. When they talk about Salingers favorite Greek Poet Sappho. Sappho is famous for his haikus he rights. I have written haikus before in many different classes. I have wrote them in english, and ILS honors and Biology Honors. We have done many different things with them my classes. I can also connect to the article becasue it talks about The Catcher in the Rye, and i am reading that book :) . It also talks about how J.D is on the cover of Time magazine and my dad has a subscription of that sent to our house.
- I can tie some things from this article to Holden because it almost seems like J.D Salinger is Holden. Salinger went to many of the same schools that Holden does. He always failed out and moved to a different school. Also he lives in New York just like Holden does. I think that in the book he makes Holden the same person he was as a child. Holden is J.D. Salinger.
- I can connect to Salinger as a writer now because he has told alot about his childhood so we know more about him. Since Salinger is Holden and makes Holden exactly like him, i know that now. By me knowing that i can assume that anything that happens in the book with Holden has probably happened to him in some way.

key concept :)
The key concept i am going with is dealing with a loss as a young teenager. It is very hard for anybody to deal with a loss at any age. It is especially difficult for a young teenager to deal with it expcially when he is away from home and has no one to grieve with. Holden doesnt live at home he attends Pency, and by him being at this school he has nobody he knows to talk to and know body knows what he is going through. I think that Holden just tried to hide his pain with a tough guy act. I think becasue of the loss Holden has turned to rebelious things in life. Like he says at the begining of the book he is a smoker. He has been kicked out of many schools for many different things. I can connect with dealing with a loss because when i was little i lost my grandpa at the age of 7. Then the summer right after he passed my dads girlfriend moved to texas. It wouldnt be a big deal for her to move but she has raised me since i was 7 months old. So she is like my 2nd mom. At that time in life i was only visiting my mom every other wekend because she lived 2 hours away. So all with in a 6 month span i had lost my grandpa and practially the person who raised me. It was really hard for her to move becasue by her moving means that my dad and I would have to move out of elkhart and into riverton so my grandma could help my dad in swing shift. That is another thing i can connect to. I had to move away from all my friends and everything i knew in elkhart to riverton. As i started growing up and getting older i realized how different the 2 towns were and the negative effect that riverton had on me. I strongly believe that is Holden had never lost his brother he would still be in school and be a very successful student. Alot of people have to deal with losses in thier life but everybody deals with it a different way.

Salinger !
I think that if Salinger came out with new work if would impact he American literary society in both ways. It could be good because it could keep a great writer alive. People can continue to read his work and he can stay famous and maybe grow in his fame. It always seem to be that when people die people become alot more interested in them. Maybe if they publish more of his work that piece will be a bigger hit than any of his other pieces. :)
